Hybrid-Drive Power Wheelchair Designed for Indoor and Outdoor Performance

One of the latest offerings in Quickie’s power wheelchair lineup is the Q500 H, which features a unique “hybrid-drive” system designed to combine the capabilities of rear-wheel and mid-drive systems.

“The Q500 H is like nothing else Quickie has ever done before. It was designed for people who want it all — an ideal balance of robust outdoor performance as well as the great maneuverability and broad options for indoor activities,” said Bernd Krebs, Quickie’s chief technical officer, in a statement.

Quickie says it moved the rear drive wheel closer to the middle of the frame to give the Q500 H better traction and a smaller turning radius than a traditional rear-wheel drive chair, while offering more robust outdoor performance than mid-wheel-drive options. In addition, the Q500 H features 9-inch front casters that Quickie says helps the chair climbs curbs up to 3 inches. According to the press release, the Q500 H’s upgraded suspension system “actively absorbs impacts over thresholds and uneven terrain to enhance ride comfort, seat stability, and helps reduce fatigue, ultimately extending the time a user can sit in the chair.”

This hybrid-drive chair is available in both regular and heavy-duty configurations, and it can be configured with Quickie’s customizable Sedeo Pro seating system. It has a 16.5-inch seat-to-floor height aimed to help users fit under desks and tables.

The Q500 H is covered by most insurance companies, including Medicare. For more information, visit Quickie’s website, and check out the video below.

Great to see another rear wheel drive wheelchair available. Very similar to the Amy systems R3 Hybrid chair I bought a few years ago. When you need a low floor to seat height to get under the steering wheel of your minivan it is a great bonus to.

Got a Quickie S363 in 2018, looks like this with spring-mounted anti-tips. So back heavy I’ve tipped backwards. I have to fold my head into my knees to get up the driveway. Be sure to test drive it!
