All wheelchair users know searching for an accessible home is not easy. Sometimes we can get lucky searching on mainstream real estate sites like Zillow or Trulia, but it’s rare to find “wheelchair accessible” properties on these sites — and this probably is not going to change any time soon.

Fortunately there are two websites that focus solely on accessible real estate.

AccessibleProperties.net was founded by Kimberly Barreda, a double amputee from Montana, founded this website and added accessible properties across the United States that were all guaranteed to be accessible. While the list isn’t huge, it gives those looking a good idea of what is available.

OneLevelHousing.com is designed by Josh Gray, whose mother has MS. The website currently lists one-level properties from California, Hawaii and New York, but the number of states included will increase as the months pass.

To use this website, all you have to do is window shop. Rest assured that every property is one-level and completely wheelchair accessible. It will be nice when the site lists properties from all states and not just the three, but it’s so cool seeing so many varied listings that are all accessible.
