Wheelchair users are especially vulnerable in high-impact motor vehicle crashes, but Q’Straint, one of the largest manufacturers of wheelchair securement devices is hoping to make such travel safer with the opening of its cutting–edge iQ Research Center of Excellence.

“Our new crash simulation system allows us to now study, test, certify and bring new products to market quicker than ever before, thereby improving safety for everyone while at the same time reinforcing our position as a global technology leader within the industry,” says Bob Joseph, Q’Straint vice president of business development.

Q’Straint’s iQ Research Center of Excellence will use high-speed cameras along with a HYGE crash simulator, including a custom wheelchair sled, to study the dynamics of how wheelchair-using passengers are affected during crashes.

The company added that iQ will “push further innovation and enhance the company’s product development capabilities” and will increase the speed of new product releases.
