Both major party candidates for president have now responded to REV UP’s presidential survey focusing on issues that affect people with disabilities. To read the full responses of both Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, click here.

In 2016, 35.4 million people with disabilities are eligible to vote and that number rises to 62.7 million when we count our families,” says Zach Baldwin, director of outreach for American Association of People with Disabilities, about the survey’s importance. It was developed jointly by AAPD and the National Council on Independent Living. “We have a responsibility to vote to support our interests and we have the power to do so. The REV UP Presidential Candidate Questionnaire provides voters with direct responses from two of the current presidential candidates – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump — on how they would address issues that are important to the disability community.”

Baldwin suggests reviewing the REV UP Presidential Candidate Questionnaire – Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump first. “This resource provides each of the candidate’s responses to each question side-by-side to make it easier for readers to compare what each candidate said they would do — or not do,” says Baldwin. “To accommodate people with various types of disabilities, we have posted the full, unedited answers from each candidate along with ‘main points’ for each response to make the language used more accessible. This accommodation does not and should not be interpreted to favor one candidate over another; oppose a candidate in some manner; or have the effect of favoring a candidate or group of candidates.”
