Ok, it’s not wheelchair-related, but check out “Bob’s House,” a Pepsi commercial created for the Super Bowl pre-game. The whole thing’s in American Sign Language! The commercial retells an old joke that’s been in the Deaf community for years. I’d tell it here, but it’d spoil the ending.
Knowing this, did you still try to turn up the volume? Come on, be honest …
The guy playing “Bob” is Clay Broussard, a supply and logistics manager at PepsiCo. “This is the PepsiCo flavor of the joke,” said Broussard to MSNBC. Broussard, who’s not deaf himself, got involved with the deaf community through his church’s services done in ASL. The guys playing Bob’s friends are both deaf employees of PepsiCo. Their names are Brian Dowling and Darren Therriault.
Good job, Pepsi!
