Just got my hardback copy in the mail the other day. Dr. X I found out a few years after having read the book the first time is or was a Dr. I knew locally and lived up a nice forest canyon here. His name is Dr. Allan Nourse. He died a few years back of a final heart attack and had gone through quadruple bypass at Virginia Mason hospital in Seattle where he served his internship. The book is excellent and a very fascinating look into the fifth year of medicine after school. This will be probably the fifth time I have read this book through the years. I have a paperback somewhere around here but finally decided I need a nice hardback permanent copy to keep. He wrote his final book titled' The Elk Hunt' and that one is on its way to me also and it is a great read also. You can find these titles on Amazon pretty reasonable and I can't recommend them too highly to you. When you finsh one of his books it is almost like you could go out and start treating patients yourself. Ha! Paul
