we saw it the first time round (me & my s/o are real jazz fans). my only criticism of the series is that it sums up the entire period from 1960 to the present in ONE episode. could have gone into more detail with the recent stuff inho.

otherwise excellent.

Haven't seen the series but my wife and I are both Jazz Fans. Love it..and try to catch some live when possible. Those ops are few and far between, but memorable.

One of the best was seeing "Lional Hampton And The Golden Men Of Jazz" at the Bluenote in NYC in '99 or 2000. Average age was like 80. Sonny Terry and other "legends" made up the group.

Talk about "troopers". Hampton was walking down the stairs to take the stage just prior to their set and fell the last 3 steps! He was helped up, and went on to blow everyone away for over an hour!

Saw Gap Mangione (Chuck's brother) at the same venue in 2000. Great Big Band sound...with a definite Jazz leaning.
