Very true, Karen. I guess I really don't care enough about this subject to be completely sarcastic one way or the other.
I do think Susan received a lot of unnecessary grief for posting a subject that she puts a lot of work into, and one she appreciates. Many others appreciate what she does and just because other posters on this board aren't into it, she doesn't deserve being treated with the complete disrespect shown here.
I think wheelchair sports organizations are unnecessary and the Ms. Wheelchair pageant is bizarre, but I still support people's right to participate.

I guess I think of the concept of disability pride more as stating the position that being disabled does not affect one's need to feel some pride about who they are, what they've done, etc. rather than actual pride in their disability. I agree it is a misnomer and should be rethought as a label for an event.
I think the final analysis would be comparing what people who observed it thought it was all about juxtapositioned with what those who participated thought it was all about. Create a survey, Karen! PI

Sorry you got such grief Susan. It wasn't the intent of my post. I was speaking of the content of the article, and in no way reflects anything negative towards your character. I'll admit that I don't understand the whole, "disability pride" concept but do recognize there are people who might. And if this type of thing keeps people actively engaged, who am I to say anything. I would never roll down the road in a parade but if that's your thing, look straight ahead, march forward, and never look back.
Be seeing you,
~Corey

If we all agreed, what a boring world this would be.

I also agree with Corey.
And I do believe the event carries a misnomer; perhaps "disability awareness"(such as: "Cancer awareness") instead of "disability pride". JMO

snarky |?snärk?| adjective ( snarkier, snarkiest) informal (of a person, words, or a mood) sharply critical; cutting; snide : the kid who makes snarky remarks in class. • cranky; irritable : Bobby's always a bit snarky before his nap.

What really matters is the size of her heart, and the depth of her compassion; and Susan measures up. So STFU!!!
