Did you have 2 lawsuits filed against the company you work for Cass? I'd think an employer might frown upon that sort of thing.
If this was a private sector job there wouldn't be much of a fuss about the whole thing. He should take his nice retirement package and move on, he's still young.
my company has accommodated me. my bosses have supported me. btw, my company is sued all the time. lots are black ppl. guess they're needy.
if i were in his shoes, i'd do what he did.
where do you get the private sector distinction? are you suggesting they aren't sued all the time? geez. faa will be harder to sue successfully than my company. trust me. it'll be the "safety" factor again.
and yeah, move on. so the person behind you who is dis gets the same treatment. that's progress.
Sorry Cass, It seems I don't have all the facts and in my haste, made a rush to judgment. My personal feelings are irrelevant to his specific claims. I know you work hard and wish nothing but the best for you and your son.

I'm not saying that the man should not have been accommodated, but I'm just questioning the fact that he was “fired” as the first article says.
I know the second article makes a reference to a pink slip, but I thought you got a pink slip when you were seperated from an employer in any way (retired, laid off, fired). And as I said earlier there is a huge difference from being fired (no benefits) and retiring (a pension).
And in the second article it said that he was going to retire this year any way. Using the word "fired" seems to just fan the flames (IMHO).
Of course, I'm sure there is more to this story than we read (there always is). Not everything makes the news.
someone who is retiring normally chooses their retirement date. there are exceptions, such as flight test pilots who have a mandatory retirement age. however, i don't think their birthday is mandated as their retirement date. and no, a pink slip does not mean any kind of job termination. not in my business.
