Oh puleeze Xuxan. Come visit here for a while and then tell me what YOU think.

Btw there is still two apartments available in Kimberley BC that is designed with people with Downs Syndrome in mind. Great facility for folks trying out the independent living lifestyle with workers visiting daily to ensure all is going well. Bus service to the downtown area where the folks get to do their grocery shopping, banking, and what not, those that need assistance with that are given that.

Oh, and did I mention it. The cost of living there, with all the workers and assistants is just 28% of your monthly income.

Oh...Vancouver Canada is listed as the top wheelchair accessible city in the world.

Oh, and in Alberta, the "severly handicapped" are given 1200 dollars a month to live on...with all medical, dental, and prescription for free. This includes any other medical products like cathetors, gloves, leg bags, you name it.

Keep your whining south of the border, we are doing ok up here.

Ok...yes we do. So? I've known all about them for a long time. We require ALL new public buildings to be built wc accessible. We do not require that older buildings and/or business's upgrade, although there a very healthy insentives for those that wish do so.

My point has been that we as a community need to know when enough is enough. When does our needs (more like wants) get to the point where the AB community starts to feel resentful? I say, that as long has I can get an education (free here in Canada for a crip), find a decent place to live (not quite as easy to find affordable housing), pay my bills, buy my grocerys, get adequate healthcare and medical attention, and have the ability to get from point A to point B with minimal effort then I am content. Give me an enviroment where I can have those basic needs then I can thrive and I don't need anymore help from the AB world to do it. I just have to be prepared to work a little bit harder to get there...barriers or no barriers.

Then don't move South cause you will not have even the basics. We do not have free college for crips; we do not have near enough affordable, accessible housing; we do not have adequate healthcare and medical attention; we do not affordable, accessible transportation.

You have want we want - so tell me again why I don't deserve at least what you have? :p
