Mr. Hunter, 9th grade typing & math teacher.

He touched my cheek, and said, "Michele, you talk so tough, but you're so soft."

Then he tenderly kissed me.

He called my house that night and asked me to skip school tomorrow and he would pick me up...

I chickened out...I was 14 years old. He was in his 30's.

Sexy Rexy. The English teacher who came to the hospital to tutor me.1st the local one, then twice a week in NYC. We drank wine and smoked but I learned a lot. Another dear friend shattered his legs in an auto accident the summer after mine. She went to his home and tutored him during the same time period. She had a positive influence toward education for us both.
Sadly, her alcohol problem escalated several years later. She was caught w/ vodka in her cup in class. She lost her job.
Teachers used to get away w/ a lot more. I once had a male shop teacher start punching me outside school in a parkinglot during a nightime event. Friends rescued me using violence. It all got hidden under the rug. No sanctions, no police.
A female typing teacher had a reputation for having sex w/ male student athletes. A male teacher abused his power and had a sexual relationship w/ a female student.
There is a message bd for alumni. We students weren't the big problem though I know who blew-up the boys bathroom in the science wing . dash

7th grade Mr Coon. Taught me indirectly, that sometimes it is okay to test risk vs reward. (Back story, he had been dateing a long haired red head for a couple of years. Then married a short haired blond. One day after lunch, he came into class, zipper open and a long read hair standing out like a sore thumb. We'll, I had no option but to bring it to his attention in front of the class. :p Payback took 2 months, I forgot I was chewing gum. Went to his class. Busted for the 3rd time. And he tee'd off on my butt like a golf pro with that paddle. But damn, it was so worth it.)

Actualy, most of my important life leasons were taught by principals or vice principals. And no, I wasn't a big time trouble maker. Mild ADHD, and boredom are a nasty combo.

My goodness, I'm old!
I adored my HS art teacher but his name escapes me, starts with a Pescalano¿ I will look in my year book. I had him all through HS, honors art. He chose only a handful of us to go to NYC for Parsons Fashion Show, a huge event for me! He was my mentor concerning art.
IF I cut class, I rarely did cut his but on the few ocassions b/c his class was right after my free mod (lunch, we always left campus), I'd pick him a flower and he couldn't resist me , 1 time I was at the SH Mall at a taping for the Regis show and the class watched, I got on camera) Old guy, nothing sexual!

My Psych teacher, Mr. V (Vaserkovi) was so brilliant. I respected him and he actually respected us students. He told us, ONLY come to class if you're interested, I won't count you absent. We ALL looked forward to his class.

There are many more!

I always feel bad when I think back to my girlfriends wedding that I was in. An art teacher (8th grade) of mine asked if I remembered him and I couldn't at that moment! I should have lied and said I did but I was really searching my memory. I later did remember him. He taught me the color wheel, mixing paints...! I feel bad to this day!

I changed schools to many times to have actualy have a teacher impact me much. But I can only think of less than a handful I realy respect. And thats because they rode my a55 hard and didn't let me slack. All were old timers that knew what I was doing (I didn't need to open a school book to pull a C and C is average, why push. ) but they didn't let me pull that, they made up accelerated learning in the 70's to push me.
God I loved college and actualy needing to study in some classes.

Mrs. Johansen, fifth grade- we hated each other. It was US history that year, and I wasn't interested. She finally called my mother, told her she'd hold me back if I didn't take the next test. I waited til the recess before the test, read the chapter, got the highest score, and she had to put my test on the bulletin board. :p
Mr. Hamm, HS ethnic studies. Everyone loved him. We had to do a class project, selected from a list. Two page written report, five minute oral report, etc. Last on the list was to cook and serve an ethnic dish to the class, preferably from your own ethnic background. We ate every Tuesday and Friday LOL. We had everything from menudo to Scottish shortbread. I fixed linguisa. For extra credit, a friend and I made ice cream- it was American. He was the cross country coach too, and ran every mile the team did.
I don't remember the names of the two biology teachers who team-taught summer school biology, but the class was amazing, including field trips to tide pools. Most summer school classes were remedial, but we gladly gave up summer mornings for eight weeks to get into this bio class. I guess it'd be considered an honors class now.
I wasn't a fun child to teach. Too bright, too bored, too stubborn.
One HS teacher dated a senior after he graduated, and one HS teacher married a student after she graduated. Mr. Anderson, who married the girl, must have had Tourette's syndrome, but we just knew he was nuts. An English teacher, he'd be reading aloud to us, put the book down, walk out the room, down the hall, and back, talking all the while, never missing a word. He'd sneak hits off his cigarette in class too. They were in his desk drawer, ashtray and all, and he'd just bend over for a minute and pop back up.

My fav in Jr. High was the same way..Ms. S--, most didn't like her cause she was really a hard grader and just hard on you all around..She gave me detention all the time but I still liked her cause she treated me just like everyone else-no better, no worse..And alwys encouraged me..
