Yet again, someone spouting off and spreading rumors regarding something which they have no clue about...

Sorry about that, Steve. When I looked yesterday, could not find either one.

Joy, I didn't even realize the name of the vehicle came from that (Kia).

Cool. Check this out:

Kia Kaha is a whole school approach to eliminate bullying. It aims to help schools create environments where everyone feels safe, respected and valued, and where bullying cannot flourish. This intervention consists of an Implementation Book Kia Kaha in Your School — a working booklet, (one for primary and one for secondary) which gives a step-by-step guide to putting the whole school approach in place, and four curriculum programmes.

I agree with that! Bullying does come in all forms and I find this post by Dowd not only untrue, but also a form of bullying:

Your so called support has been to put susan down when she was the one who convinced me to allow her to post here. I had already informed the people I wanted to know of what was happening all accept mrsoul. I was going to send him an email the next day. THanks for this reminder of the way this board works. so see ya ..
I do not see anything but postive responses for Dowd on this thread.

I agree Flicka, F-ucking unbelievable and Dowdy has been leaving this site for 10 years.
I suspect Susan has involvement in Dowdy's discontent...

i see only positive thoughts for dowdy on this thread, too, flicka. might he have felt maligned by some of the posters in this thread at powerquad and his anger spilled over into his reply?

I actually agree with you because of a life time of CP and he is no kid so it is very serious. I think joy is right too plus Dowdy's emotions must be running high.
I will always wish the best for Dowdy, please tell him that Susan.

Susan, I hope you will convey my sincere concern for Dowdy as well. He and I met about 6 yrs ago, when he visited Ohio, mutual friends in Columbus area.

We have chatted off and on over the years too, only wish the best possible outcome for him and for his quality of life.

take care,
Donna

If so, he didn't mention it on his response at PQ. His post there begins: "Thankyou all. Thank you susan we were conversing via email about this stuff. "

I don't, Craig. Dowd has never liked any of us too much and he's never had a good word for New Mobility.

In defense of Dowdy: It's damned hard being a freak of nature, is all. It can get to you after awhile. Not meant to whine, but it's just a fact.

Surgery, pain, aggravation, just puts it all in stark relief... we don't adhere to any of the usual categories. Medically speaking, they don't know what to do with us; they are basically just guessing, and we are well aware of that. It makes you feel like a guinea pig.

Surgery is a hot button for almost everyone with CP--very emotionally charged. Many CPers were promised (as children) that surgery would "cure" us --or at least make us "better" in some nebulous and never-defined way. They said it to make us behave. And of course, they lied--there was no cure, and "better" was always a matter of opinion. (I am very grateful my mother was always honest with me, but doctors were not.)

Surgery has been hell ever since, a reminder that the way one first entered the world was never "good enough".

People with "acquired" disabilities are not considered freaks. It's nothing personal, but I think it's a whole 'nother mindset.

Godspeed, Dowdy.

flicka, i think that dowdy's primary fear might be from the drugs that will be administered to him in order to keep him still for the six weeks following his surgery, and possibly for the rest of his life- he might become addicted to these zombie-like medications, resulting in a loss of self- the fusion itself seems to be a secondary fear-

Quote:
...this and the fact that I cannt be still and conscious at the same time is a problem, norflex or worse akinaton, cogentin, these drugs affect dopamine and other neural chemicals in the brain basicly its a anti-parkinsons drug, and valium and other drugs for 6 weeks in hospital ...
I have been addicted to akinaton I went cold turkey on that one.
he's scared, and anger is nothing but misplaced fear-

I can understand that, but it still does not take the bully factor out of his post.

You nutty Aussies and your lingo! :p

Dowdy, keep me posted. Don't let anyone keep you away from here; it's still a good home-base for crip stuff. My two polls at Powerquad (about stem cell research and chiropractic medicine) have been deleted, so I assume that means I am persona non grata over there, too. Haven't been to the chat, lately... but you know my email address!

Hope all is well with you! My novenas ( :p nyah nyah, you atheist! :p ) shall continue unabated.
A liberal translation for MrSoul...
"...from across the creek..." = the "Tasman Sea" that separates Australia & New Zealand.

KIA KAHA = NZ Maori, one of our official languages, English being the other.
Joyt has added some excellent information. ty.

"stay the pace" = it was Melbourne Cup Day. stp means to hold/persevere till the end (of a race).

"nutty aussies" ... yeh I can go along with that. I'm a New Zealander and usually agree with that out of principal to our 'friendly' rivalry.

"lingo" = universal term for "language"
