I hadn't known until today that another of my favorite musical artists died in late May. One of my favorite recordings of his is the album "Strictly Instrumental" which he made with Flatt and Scruggs. Another favorite is the album "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" which was recorded with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and other traditional country artists.

Doc Watson was as down to earth musician as you could find. It is good other more prominent musicians recognized his talents and showcased him for those of us who would probably never see him personally. We are losing the oldtimers to quickly.

Saw him last summer in one of his last real concerts around the Boone area in Sugar Grove. Great show. All the "old timers" were at the festival with their seats reserved with their belongings at 9AM waiting for Doc to go on. He didn't play til 9PM...

Now that's dedication
