The September 2012 issue of CONSUMER REPORTS which came in the mail today has an article on the dangers of supplements. I think it is an article everyone should read. Their conclusion is that MOST people taking them would be better off using the money they spend on supplements to buy more nutritious foods. They do acknowledge that for certain people such as those diagnosed with nutrient deficiencies they can be necessary. In a separate article they mention the problem of health care providers who also sell products. They advise saying "no" as this creates a conflict of interest.
