I honestly don't think there is an 'average' in any relationship...crippled, or not.

I also don't believe in the above. Not between people, nor people and their dogs. Marriage, cohabitation, all relationships require constant work and selflessness on the part of both(all) participants.

Unfortunately, our nature is to be selfish, so we need to recognize the difference between selfish demands, or being walked on like a rug. People with disabilities especially need to do what they are able rather than expect our partners to work overtime on things we can do ourselves.

As far as unconditional love, I think we can come close but will never truly achieve it. If my son turned out to be Jeffrey Dalmer(sp?), or even Charlie Manson...I can't see me continuing with unconditional love for him.

I think the bottom-line with love and relationships boils down to
"do onto others as you'd have done to you". Treat your partner in the manner you want to be treated, if there seems to be a huge difference in how your partner treats you, don't waste anymore valuable time being miserable. There must be 50 ways to leave a lover.

Married - August 31, 1985
Disabled (sci) - November 10, 1985
We're still married. This is my 3rd marriage and his 2nd one.
