No, you are wrong about that and Bush too. He was a fool to invade Iraq and the proof is in the pudding my friend.
It was badly handled (save the first 3 weeks), no argument there. Still, Afghanistan has the prospect of being something worse if we don't get out of there soon.
But isn't a bad place to have troops positioned should another of those rouge nations get jiggy with us.
You could apply the same argument to Iraq. That didn't work out either.

He boxed himself in with all the talk of the good war and then doubled down on what was a dumb position in order to save face. To his credit, I think he realized pretty quick the surge was a bad move and started planning for the eventual pullout.
Come on, admit it, given the cards he was dealt and the affirmative action he has taken Obama has done a good job wrt to foreign policy and repairing America's tatered image abroad.

The normal, everyday people- men, women and children despise the Taliban. They are pretty defenseless against them. If they took over Sharia law would be the first change then the sick violence- stoning of women, random violence, no schools, no women working,etc. We've seen this. Personally, that's why I think we stay.
