a bunch of insurgents, no make that cry babies, had not made it their mission to drive people away from NM to another board?
And all because these cry babies took issue with NM management wanting to institute some framework of reasonable standards of behaviour.
Add to that, the other board made, less than subtle, attempts to poach members and foster resentment within the NM community.

Never doubt the power of a few to screw things up for the majority.

Sounds like another attempt to foster resentment somewhere,Greg. ;-)

Divide and conquer because "a house divided against itself cannot stand".

It began with coercion and strong arming of NM members. "Our site is great, NM sucks", "make a choice where you want to post but all the better people are moving over", even using links for the new site in NM signatures!

Then the transition to the new board had to be managed and while "The Secret Society" was a joke it was a good metaphor for how members were convinced to change their allegiance. As a few members started posting on the new site, pressure was put on them to encourage their NM friends to make the move.

Finally came the real dirty part, alienation, how to cleanse the new board of people the "society" deemed unworthy. They found an excuse to get rid of Wabi, then they vilified and deboned the scapegoat for NM's failing, Susan. Finally for a girl who was born, raised and lives in the deep south, they welcomed her to the new board with a stern warning and a picture of a hangman's noose.

Yea, everyone was free to make their choice.

Most people are more intelligent than you (Greg) give them credit. Everything you described in the above post would only work if previous posters were as weak and easy to manipulate as you imagine.

It's been six (6) years this coming September. Let it be.

and yet, as your 'welcome to those who value freedom' thread shows, NM is still a playground for anonymous sh1t stirrers and multiple aliases. that is what started the problems. that is what brought NM down. that is why no one will ever take NM seriously.

come on, you really bought into that paranoia? there were a few like XV and michelle who played around but that was used as an excuse to convince people to leave NM, just like Susan's stupid secret email storyline.

the great thing about NM was the connection people had to eachother and the ability to self govern, some equated that to ownership of NM and so when the real NM owners asked for some control and co-operation a few got their noses out of joint and staged a kind of insurgency. Steve had his project underway and so a few "suckie" NMers threw their lot in with PQ and the campaign that ensued sucked NM dry.

I can believe Flicka would rather not have this all brought up as she was one of the earlier defector that worked in the background firing off shots that eventualy got the stampede started.

Also, I don't buy the whole people left cause Facebook exists. CC is doing just fine.

Ask yourself, if PQ hadn't have existed would NM havr been desimated or would it have worked through it's challenges?

Imagine all you want, Greg. I've never had a problem posting anywhere I wanted and NM is one of those places. In fact, I wasn't worried about posting here even if Xuxan became moderator. I DO admit that I thought Jeff Leonard would pull the plug on the NM messageboard when he received the threat of trashing NM to veteran groups by a former poster. Hell, this board is meant to be a positive resource for those with disabilities. I saw no value in him keeping the board alive after all the bullshit...guess that's why I've never been good at management.

Xunan the moderator of NM? yea right Jeff made it kinda clear, I thought, that any connection to her was tenuous, at best. I know you were posting at NM, PQ and Kim's. It was your advocating for PQ at the expense of NM, both at PQ and NM, that I am referring to. Please, please don't ask me to find examples, library duty makes me cranky.

Plus, you can't find any examples of something that never happened. Let it be.

Nothing you posted showed me advocating for PQ at the expense of NM. It didn't happen.
