Greg's sentence is grammatically correct. Therefor, your post is incorrect for suggesting that his sentence is incorrect.
Furthermore, if you are suggesting in your post that Greg should have written "I hope you stick around for awhile." instead of "I hope you stick around for a while.", then your suggested "correction" is itself grammatically incorrect, whereas Greg's sentence is not.
Because "awhile" is an adverb which means "for a while" and includes within its meaning the preposition "for", your substitution of "awhile" instead of "a while" would convert the sentence into the grammatically incorrect "Hope you stick around for for a while."
In the case of Greg's post, it is equally correct to write either
"I hope you stick around for a while." or "I hope you stick around awhile."
but "I hope you stick around for awhile" is fundamentally incorrect.

Congratulations, you found a misspelling in my otherwise correct post.
However, the fact remains that you were wrong to correct Greg when his post was flawless, and for that you still owe him an apology.
You can either do the right thing and apologize to Greg for your error, or you can engage in a futile attempt to divert attention from your own error, which, despite your best efforts, will not succeed in fooling anyone who reads this thread.
The choice is yours, and the opportunity to apologize to Greg still exists. I suggest that you not squander this one too.

There is no comma splice to be found anywhere in my post. If you think that there is one, then it is due only to your ignorance of the English language. If you paid to study the subject in school, then I suggest that you ask that institution for a refund. A printout of your posts in this thread is more than sufficient evidence that your education has failed you.
I decline your offer, because coprophagia does not appeal to me.

Well lets look at the facts. There are 2 live threads going on here in General forum, both made by you. Look at what's going on. You are just not a happy camper unless you are stirring the crap.
