Ask yourself, how many others are receiving form letter like appeals for help? Remember the power and reach of the internet.

Odd, how even though she still has access to the internet that her Facebook postings have stopped.

Can you see any patterns of behaviour?

Lack of direct contact.

How did she get to America, how did she get to Spain?

Does anyone know for sure she is where she says she is.

A couple of in consistencies are normal but many inconsistencies should be a warning.

Who is she reaching out to and why to these people?

If something repeatedly seems hinkey, it just might be.

If money starts to be discussed, for example, nursing home care or travel and you do not request and receive varifiable proof then you get what you deserve.

For the super paranoid:
Read up on scams, then again, if you're super paranoid you probably already have.

Geeze, where was that logic when it could have made a difference? I got shit on for talking such blasphemy.

and for Susan, why is it so bad to question sometime's motives, goals and objectives?

"lola didn't jump on a plane. she was transferred from her powerchair to an aisle chair to a first-class seat"

I sure hope she had a free upgrade from coach to first class. Do you know how much a first ticekt is from NH to Spain? If she is able to cash in her return first class ticket that should help her out.

I've never actually flown post-injury but recently called to Northwest Airlines to inquire about it. I want to visit my son and daughter in Oregon this summer or fall and we were debating whether we could fly there instead of making an almost 5000 mile round trip drive.

I was told that wheelchair users are always placed in first class seats since it's too difficult to place them in the smaller and less adjustable regular ones. I don't know whether all airlines do this since they're the only one I talked to

I didn't ask about price, but I would hope that the airline wouldn't charge for first class seating since it's their choice to place you there. Hopefully someone with actual flying experience can tell us for sure.

Dennis and I flew back to New Jersey from San Diego this past November for his dad's 90th birthday party. Because Den is now more debilitated from his stroke (though cognitively he does very well), I had major concerns -- though we'd flown many, many times prior to the stroke.

If you ask for help from the airline (we flew Continental -- the only non-stop from San Diego to Newark), they'll do their best to make your trip comfortable. Two very big, very strong young men helped Dennis onto his seat (first row in coach; "bulkhead" seat), and in Newark we were greeted by two more very large and strong young men (who could have played for the NY Giants) who helped Dennis out of his seat, onto the aisle chair, and then onto his real chair. One of the gentlemen pushed Den all the way to the rental car offices, a loooooong tram ride away. Just truly fabulous help.

For the return flight, we upgraded Den to first class -- as he felt very constrained in the coach seat. Again, he was aided by two big strong guys into the aisle chair, then onto his very wide and comfy first-class seat (I remained in coach -- paying $10 for a COLD and HORRIBLE "chicken wrap), and enjoyed wine, chicken marsala, polenta, and a hot fudge sundae. I was only a few rows back, and could see he was doing very well with the flight attendant keeping him comfortable the entire way.

Upon arriving in San Diego -- again, all the help we needed was there: two strong men to help Dennis out of his seat, to the aisle chair, and onto his wheelchair. One of them pushed Den all the way to the curbside, where our ride awaited.

Make sure you make it clear to everybody possible -- especially the ones at the desk by the gate -- that you require an extra bit of help, and you'll get it. Continental was terrific about it.

And FYI -- the strong fellows will accept tips.

SOunds like Dennis had a good trip. I have flown many times and had good times and bad times. They usually transfered me into an ailse chair at the gate and pulled me doen the aisle to first coach seat. Its easier to transfer out of the chair because there's usally an armrest on the coach airline seat I am transferring into but they are pretty good about assisting. Once plane arrives at destination get ready to wait. I was laways last 1 out of the plane which makes sense.

Ghoti whether you fly or drive to Oregon this summer would be good to see you and talk politics...
