Thanks my friend. You know, I really begin to think that too many liberals hit the 'cry to EMMY button' on this board because it is a rare occurrence that I can post ANYTHING copy/pasted from ANYWHERE. I've got clear memory of the many many postings by all of the PQers saying that I needed to stop my so-called behavior of copy/paste. See...theyz never satisfied. I mean, I could post my own thoughts, and get trashed for it in the most demeaning manner, or I could post just part of an article and still get trashed OR I could post the entire thing (cus, some people I remember use to say that their computer was old...yada yada...they didn't care to click on a link...yada yada...they wanted to read it all....so I'd post it all to read) but then, if I didn't have comment with it, they still got their noses out of joint (now there's an expression that many here in the south honestly never hear...so when I say it, it is comical what I hear from others)....well, I lost my train of thought, Paul (if you are still with me) and so I'll end my head-chatter. lol, :-) Ronda

Ronda I don't see anything wrong with pasting something you want to share and you agree with it so long as it is legal. For those interested in the subject you have made it easy for them to read without doing a bunch of searching and they have the link if they want to look further. I think mainly people want some of your original thoughts in short paragraphs maybe. Something more personal and quicker for them to read. People nowadays are looking for compact bite size info. Guess that is where the term from newscasters come from.. 'sound bites'. I am finding it harder and harder to read long writings, but I am still forcing myself to read books. I have a touch of ADD I think.:-) Still with you. Paul

Ronda, you do realize that there are laws governing the posting of copyrighted material, don't you? The law says it's OK to copy a few sentences of someone else's work for the purpose of critiqueing or commenting on but it's illegal to repost entire articles without permission of the author. You can LINK to the article, but you're not allowed to copy and paste.
If a poster or several posters on any website violate that standard the website itself can be sued by the copyight holder. It hasn't happened very often, but most websites have statements warning people about this and I've seen many people banned from other websites for violating it.
NM has been pretty lax about this in the past but IMO it's a serious mistake on their part. What's so difficult about just obeying the law?
