Jesus said: In the book of MARK
Mark 11:22 Have faith in God.
11:23 For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
11:24Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
BUT.....(This is the small print that can cancel a prayer in God's eyes.)......(My words)
11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

From my understanding of the scriptures, God will not answer a prayer request from anyone who has unconfessed sin in their heart or their life. Praying for forgiveness preceeds praying for anything else.
Paul

To me, the verses from Mark 11, are not saying God won't answer anyone who has unconfessed sin unless we pray for fogiveness first. Verse 25 sounds to me like IF we want to be forgiven by God, we must forgive other people we hold grudges against.

The Lord's Prayer always makes me nervous when we get to the "Forgive us our trespasses AS we forgive others who trespass against us."

I think forgiving others preceeds all else.
