This site claims to list ONLY products which are 100% made in the USA.

If the first digit on the bar code is 0, then the product is made in USA or Canada. Any other number is foreign made.

That's incorrect. The first digit of a the product's barcode has nothing to do with the country of origin.

The only possible way to tell is to look for a country of origin declaration on the package or on the product itself, but as those declarations are sometimes falsified, you can't be certain in any case.

Yep Anita is right Checksnopes.com Determining countries origin by bar code. There is only the country where the bar code was issued from by the buyer. Nearly impossible to pinpoint the country wherer a product originates from with out the right bar code reader I guess.
I got an email with that false info.

How many times do you go shopping and actually look to see if what you are buying is Made in the USA?

I just went shopping this weekend and bought two shirts for my sister and niece and I never looked to see if they were made in America.

Most likely they are not.

In a way it should make you think twice before you buy if it is not Made in the USA but it never does.

A big problem is that some items like automobiles are ASSEMBLED in this country but many of the parts are made in other countries, sometimes in factories that have almost slave labor-like conditions.

Even "Made in the USA" is not 100% reliable. See the link below.

edited to add this link I forgot to include

There is a loophole in everything and just because Saipan is a commonwealth of the United States the companies can put Made in the USA on their tags.

For one the fact that use even cheaper labor for workers just isn't right at all and for two that is just plain false labeling.
