Posts: 4 		I had an ischial flap surgery in June. It went great! After 6 years of bandages and bed rest, it is wonderful to just get dressed and go--without a constant worry that the wound is getting worse. Check out my pictures and my story at flapsurgerysucces.blogspot.com

Your flap looks pretty good.

I have had my wound for a little over 8 years myself and I just refuse to get a flap done.But that is just me.

I believe that plenty of movement and excercise can get the work done.My only fault is that I don't excercise much now as I did say the last 3-4 years.I really need to get back into the routine more.

I do applaud you for the sacrifices you had to deal with during the healing process of the flap.

I myself just can't do it.

Posts: 7913 		The sacrifice of healing is nothing compared to the pressure sore. Constant concern for infection, the drain on the body, protein levels, further deterioration, etc. Six weeks on a Clinitron, nice nurces, an iPad ad TV is not to tough.

Loc: No. Calif. (SF Bay Area) 		I'm a little reluctant to claim success on my flap surgery, but i am hopeful. My wound-care nurse discharged me last week and said everything looked great and she didn't think she'd be seeing me for the flap in the future.

I didn't save the pics of my ass, sorry.

That means you are healed and it's up to you to make sure your skin stays in good shape. You now know what to watch for and what happens if you don't stay off irritated skin. Good luck BoB. I've babied my skin for 25 years since my flap surgery and have only had to take 5 months off during those years to heal an ish sore. Just keep an eye on your ass and stay off it if your skin is screwed up. You'll be fine.

I understand what you are saying and I do agree.It is just that I was down for the better part of the first 2 1/2 after my accident because of this wound I still have (after 8 years) and another on the other butt cheek.I don't think that other one lasted a year before it was healed.

I just wish this one would have healed just as fast.

I am confident that I can still get it healed on my own.
