I just spent a few hours and many web searches reading and watching videos about this guy. He was a good looking, athletic, 17 year old when he had his spinal cord injury. He keeps a video log starting from day one in the hospital.

Follow his journey from top-of-the-world teen to complete paralysis, to incredible progress, to stem cells trip to Panama, to yet another tragic event.

Interesting story. These stories always take we SCIed back. I think it is important, not to take away from the young man's story, that the return may have happened anyway. There is no way of knowing.

Nice post, thanks!

I agree on the stem cells aspect. I think all he received from that trip to Panama was additional disappointment and heartache that contributed to the end of his story. Often the people around a new sci concentrate so much on getting better that they lose track of living and enjoying the new life they have. The money and hope spent on the vultures in Panama should have been put toward school or improving his life to give him more self worth.
