i hope i can afford the insurance, gas, food and soon rent, when the pp ends!

Good for you, Rob.

in ny if you're disabled before 21yrs old, you get your parents' socials after they die. ma died in '95 at 64yrs old--she retired early due to emphysema, but her social was less than mine. my da died at 68yrs old in '98-- his was substantually higher than my social and supplemental combined. then i was unemployed; so i had a surplus, and had to pay the homecare agency about 400. a month. when i began working at ucp in '08, ss waived the surplus. after 2/'09 when i got the job at concepts, i couldn't earn more than 948. a month otherwise ss deducts from the next month's socials. the ceo keeps saying he's going to open a nysarc or nysaid (trust-fund) for me; but thus far, if he did, nobody told me.

i think we're off-topic. anybody w/a disability may write a pp. this plan is my second--i wrote one in '88 for my first van--i got nearly 11k back then.

as long as the money is used to get a job or go back to school, ss will pass the plan. you must use the money for what is intended for--i'm audited every 3mos.

mine is about 555. dad's is about 683. but goes into the van pp w/half my wages.

i'm living off supp 761. (less if i earn too much) and half my wages. this pp ends when van's paid off. then i get both socials an my wages--which will be less than 2k a month.

insurance 245.
gas 240.
food maybe 200.
rent abut 600.
con ed i'm guessing 50.-80
tv/internet/phone 110.
that'll leave me about 500. in spending-money. i'm not complaining but that isn't much, and i know ppl who do it--so i'll figure out how to live within my means.

my dad worked for the water-company--ironically that's what killed him as they used asbestos. he was a worker/foreman; made about 50-60k when he retired. dad was good w/money; i ain't so good w/it.

i think money makes some ppl evil.

Did your dad receive compensation for his mesothelioma, Rob?

Dang. You only had 2 years after his death to file a claim. Oh well, money won't bring him back.

@ParaDude, "around here" I am new. At my website, and on Facebook, my presence is established in my own name. Kimberlyb's is the first feedback I've received about my "tone" which is a good constructive criticism, which I accept!

I'm glad you accept the constructive criticism. I too felt the same negative reaction. Your cause is just and I hope you manage to start making some positive changes with regard to the parking issue.

I don't necessarily share your views that this is a big issue but recognize that for some people, including yourself, that this is a major problem.

I wish you good luck.

I'm pretty sure that's federal law, Rob. Same was true for me in MT, AZ, and now in MO since I became a gimp at 15.
