This article presents a conflict I think of fairly regularly, that is, why do we rescue species on the the of extinction? We are part of the world ecological system as are earthquakes, tornados,
and many other natural disasters. We compete, destroy, build and survive physically and socially according to the general scheme
of evolution. We are the part of the system that affects the rest to the greatest degree. Shouldn't an animal headed for extinction be allowed to do so? It's the earth's way. Is interfering also part of the system? Is there a proportionality to the value of a species that determines its fate?

Agree with you PaulI but maintenance of biodiversity maybe essential for our survival ie for food, medicines or wellbeing.
