I have been a C6 quad for 28 years, using a Foley until Oct. '08 when a Supra Pubic Catheter was inserted. It stopped working in less than 2 months while I was far from home. The closest doctor put a Foley in. Two months later the RN removed the SPC but could not insert a new one so I went to the hospital, where with trouble, they finally got one in. On the next change, the RN could not remove it so back to the hospital where the third RN finally removed it with capillaries on it. Neither she nor the urologist could put in a SPC so the doctor let it heal. That was '09. I have been on a Foley since then but now have occasional spotting of blood. Two days ago I had a cyscoscopy showing a sore in the urethra from long-term Foley use, causing spasms that has made my Foley come out several times. Is the only solution a SPC?

Hi Eunice, I've never used anything but straight IC, and am not up on new bladder solutions. You'll get answers on this messageboard though. Good luck!
