“It’s not trivial,” said Mr. Phillips, a professor of sociology at the University of California at San Diego. “We looked at all cause categories and, for nearly every one, we found an excess of deaths — particularly for people who are dying rapidly, like dead-on-arrival or dying in the emergency department.”

In general, Mr. Phillips said the team’s analysis of some 57.5-million death certificates shows the chance of dying during this holiday period increases “somewhere between 3% and 9%, depending on the demographic group you’re looking at, and somewhere between 1% and 10%, depending on what cause of death you’re looking at.”

Less clear are the reasons behind this fatal phenomenon.

Christmas and new year are both pagan holidays so this isn't hard for me to understand.

Romans:6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Santa claus is obviously thor, and thor is obviously satan. And it's satan who seeks to be like the most high God. How do I know that? It's because both thor and santa have all of the attributes of God.

Thor and santa are both celebrated during this yuletide season.

When did you gain this knowledge? I tried to read your link but it doesn't work. How does your family view Christmas?

Santa is for Saint Nicholas who gave gifts to poor children and parents and nothing else. Early in the 20th century he was redone in America and our heritage of a more secular nature was born. Jesus was not born on christmas day but was assocated with that day for His birth and His greatest gift to mankind. So many worship His birth on that day and also gives gifts in the style of saint Nick. Many people think Jesus was born on the same as my birthday, September 29,around 4 BC. I celebrate both religious and secular knowing that Dec.25th is merely symbolic.

But, does your family?

I am curious where you came up with the notion that Thor & Santa are actually Satan?

Satan says that he will be like the most high. Do not santa claus and thor make claim to have the attributes of God?

Also there are paralells between santa and thor, i.e., they are both celebrated during this time of year.

Secular poets etc. have given that to the story of St. Nick. Santa Claus is an American myth for the most part. No comparison with Satan who is probably the inventor of Santa Claus to turn people away from Jesus attributes and into the secular.

I doubt either Santa, or Thor, have ever claimed anything! (They are not real.) They are myths. Sorry.

Quote:
The unusual and common characteristics
of Santa and Thor - are too close to ignore.

An elderly man, jovial and friendly and of heavy build.

With a long white beard.

His element was the fire and his color red.

Drove a chariot drawn by two white goats, named
Cracker and Gnasher.

He was the Yule-god. (Yule is Christmas time).

He lived in the Northland (North Pole).

He was considered the cheerful and friendly god.
"Ho - Ho - Ho"

He was benevolent to humans.

The fireplace was especially sacred to him.

He came down through the chimney into his element, the fire.

Well whatever, I will still include Santa and Christmas in my cultural hertitage because it is more good than bad and adds to a jovial spirit for Christmas and I also celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ as coming King of the world.
