Greetings

I'm new here and glad to have found you!

I am writing to find out about flying with a 10 year old child who has CP. This child has her wheel chair and has chest restraints to help hold her upright. How would this child fly in a commercial airplane? I'm assuming her chair would be stowed below and she would be carried/transported to her seat, but are there chest restraints on the planes? Does the family have to supply these?

I am writing for someone who has asked me to help her glean the info she needs before she and her child fly.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice you can offer.

Welcome to NM Shirley

Here's an article to get you started. Although it deals with flying in a chair from a disabled adult's perspective, I think that most of its suggestions and info is equally helpful for a disabled child.

The author of that article, Luc, is also a member of NM and posts occasionally.
