Yep. Joke as in hahahaha But if it makes Ronda feel better .....

Being at Church every Sunday doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a mechanic.

How's that?

Thanks for the memory. I recall sitting in an extremely hot circular auditorium in New Mexico taking those tests while sitting on a hard plastic, tiny seat/chair, hoping that my bladder would stay calm enough and empty enough to get thru it. Yeah...I remember the logic parts well. I did ok...i passed. I got accepted into the Master's program in Speech Pathology. I did me proud.

The Miller's is the most intimidating test I have ever taken! I did OK though - I must be good at guessing.

As much scripture as you know MerryA I find it hard to think you are not just guessing at your salvation also with your loose feelings of bible having error in it. Don't remember specifics of things you have said but what I come away with is that there are portions of the bible you think that might not be true. Is that right?

You are wrong - I don't take the Bible literally. The Bible is full of allegory and parables. Salvation is not based on taking every word of Scripture literally. Salvation is from grace through faith in God, His son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Paul, it isn't up to you to say that, or Ronnie for that matter. Salvation is highly personal, don't you agree? I have no problem with you posting what you think things mean, like everyone else here. It gets problematic when we start arguing the finer points of biblical meaning. Again, wouldn't you agree?

I just get frustrated at some viewpoints, Colorde, yes people are within their rights to believe what they want. I don't know how Jesus will treat those beliefs and it is not my business I guess to question what people believe. I just know what I believe.

Paulwa, my beliefs and those of most others here are just as strong as yours. I don't get why folks like you and Ronnie just can't accept that and stop condmning us and trying to covert eveyone to your beliefs.

All you accomplish is stirring up more resistance rather than convincing anyone. IMO being a positive example will attract followers far more than going around condemning and judging others.

Can't you just accept that others see things differently and let it go?

Yep, I can do that Ghoti. I dislike arguing, kind of like trying to nail jello to a tree. I don't even like debating with facts because no one see's the facts the same way. I guesds I have been coming to the conclusion that we are all goin g to go the way we want to go regardless of what anyone says. So lets just all keep moving forward and try to get along with each other. And if millions of people suddenly disappear off this earth you can say well that old fart Paulwa must have been on the right path! ;-)

I promise if the rapture happens as you describe it I will say that old fart Paulwa may have been on the right path. LOL

Well, I tried to start two new threads that I hoped would allow us to talk about something rather than just endlessly arguing in circles. In the "Night sky" thread I was trying to open up discussion on everyone's first ever spiritual awakening and the "works" thread was so we could talk about how our beliefs inspire us to reach out to others.

Neither one has gone in a productive direction, so I guess fighting is the only thing that's going to keep this forum alive.

I could talk about this forever, but I don't have the time right now. However, I'll lay out a quick thought for now.

I have been inspired to do many things because of my 'faith'. On the opposite end, I have withdrawn support and actually physically hidden from various projects my 'faith' encouraged me to start in the first place.

It is because of the people who surround one when you step into a community 'role'. Every crazy in a 100 mile radius, or more, will enter into your life.

Therefore, or for me anyway, I am back to square one and still trying to fulfil obedience to one of the greatest commandments of all -- to love thy neighbor as thyself -- it's a painful truth in my life and one I must work on constantly.

I think we are born with an inate sense of right and wrong - little children know what is "fair."

I know too many people who do not practice any religion that are fine people - kind, caring, giving, sharing.... Religion is not necessary to be a good person IMO. The first part of Romans in the Bible makes that clear (if you need a scriptural reference).

Christianity, for me, is not a set of rules on how to be good person, although there have been times when being a Christian made it easier to do the right thing.
