What does this verse mean to you?

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

It means that I sometimes talk too much.

Because you do not use righteous judgement in deciding how to manifest Christlike actions? Difficulty in shaking the dust off and moving on?

Ronnie, I was given a direct message from the creator. I choose to believe that rather than some words from an old book.

If you were me, wouldn't you do the same?

Ronnie I have a confession. Even if I didn't disagree with your theology (which I do) and even if you weren't so hateful (which you are) I still would have a problem with you because of your name.

There was a kid who lived down the street from us growing up who had your name. Big time brat and bully. My cousin Pam beat him up once for calling me "stick lady" (I walked with crutches.)

Hey, you aren't from Pine Castle are you? LOL

I know what I was told and I believe it. I don't want or expect anybody else to believe it and follow my lead, so go ahead and believe as you like.

Just don't try to change me, and I won't try to change you. OK?

I was raised in the church and all my experiences of the spiritual kind support my beliefs (I left the church I was raised in over 30 years ago). I think the spirit journey is a personal one and no one else knows what is in your heart.

I know good people who don't believe in a diety, I know hateful people who are in church or temple every Sunday. One of the worse cussin' I ever got was from a church member just outside the nave! Just cause you go to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than being in a garage makes you a car.

I would rather have a friend who is good, honest, trustworthy and doesn't believe in a diety than one who cheats, lies, and betrays but is in church every Sunday.

What were those words, if I may ask, ghoti?

Can you reveal what was said to you, Ghoti? Don't remember if ever heard any details of your conversation.
Thanks
Paul

it's not a question of WHO's right or wrong. why can't it just be that what you believe is "right" for you, and what ghoti believes is "right" for him? i mean, doesn't it all come down to individual personal experience?

IMO for a person to adopt a belief with any sincerity they have to honestly FEEL it within their hearts. if they don't, then no amount of hard selling is going to persuade anybody otherwise.

instead of constantly ramming your message down everybody's throats, why don't you share for us what you actually DO to follow your religious teaching. do you contribute to any charities or perform any "good works"? i think sharing about that would make for a more effective message, and a hell of a lot more interesting to boot.

hoping for a serious reply, in the interest of bridging the impasse.

Paulwa, I've reported on it in detail many times before. Anyone who has been reading my posts in this forum can easily figure it out.

Everything I've said here over the years is based on that conversation, and I'm sticking exactly true to what was told to me. I was an life-long atheist before then, so if he had never communicated with me my postings here would have had a very different tone.

He told me he wants us to be kind and compassionate to each other and cooperate to make the world better, and all the other dogma and ritual that have built up over time is nonsense in his eyes. It's just that simple.

With your permission, Star, I'd like to use this idea to start a new thread.

My response to Ronda from her mis-post on the "Night Sky" thread:

Sigh - again? This must be the 4th or 5th time I've explained all this, but if you want it one more time, so be it. The last time I posted this was when Paulwa was talking about being visited by two angels back about a year and a half ago. I'll do the LONG version with no details left out if that's what you want, but this time I'm saving a copy so I won't ever have to type all this next time.

It was in November of 2000 and I was in a coma in the hospital near death from a septic neck infection that had paralyzed me. The doctors were going to try an antibiotic on me in a last-ditch effort but had already told my family to decide whether they wanted burial or cremation since they didn't expect me to survive the night. The antibiotic obviously worked, and when I woke up the memory of this vision was so intense I was telling the doctors, nurses, and my family all about it.

I was standing in a room and a man dressed in very casual clothes was sitting behind a desk tilting back with his feet up on the desk. The whole room had a strange glow to it, and when I looked at him he chuckled and said "Yeah, it's me, God, and I really exist. I know you've doubted me all your life, but that's OK. This isn't really what I look like, but I just picked a form that you'd be comfortable with. I've done this to many people throughout the ages."

He went on: "I'm very disturbed by all the problems I see with all these religions. I've sent the same message to many people over time, but it always seems to get distorted. Every religion has started out with this message but they always end up messing it up with ritual and dogma and missing the point."

He said: "My message to people is that I want you to be kind and compassionate to each other and cooperate to get things done. If you would all just do that you could make the world a wonderful place. I've said this so many times to so many people that you'd think it would sink in, but I REALLY, REALLY MEAN IT." (he spoke very forcefully here)

There was a door in the wall behind him and it was open just a tiny bit. There was a warm glowing feeling coming through that's hard to describe but I felt myself very powerfully drawn toward it. I felt like a young child returning to a warm, loving home after being out in cold, scary darkness all alone.

He looked at me and smiled and said: "Yes, that's the afterlife and you'll be going there soon enough but not yet. There are some things you need to do in life so I'm sending you back. I know when you wake up you're going to doubt that this was real, so here's a special sign to remind you. Every time you make this sign the memory of this experience will come right back to you."

When I woke up this was the very first memory I had. I didn't know where I was or even that I was paralyzed yet but I was telling everyone.

I know many people dismiss these near-death experiences as hallucinations from a brain that's shutting down. That's what I probably would have said if someone else described it to me. If anyone else wants to think that about my vision, fine, but it was totally real and convincing to me and changed me from an atheist to a believer.

It's strange but I have come up with a similar beliefs, but my pathway has taken me to atheism. I care not if a person is destined for heaven or hell, but how I treat him here and now.
