So if "modern" christians can change their views from the bible to see women as equals, why can't the do the same for homosexuals?... Especially since there is significantly more about the degradation and subjugation of women in the bible than there is about homosexuality?...
they could. even the most fundementalist legalistic churches have scriptures which are considered a product of another period in history. biblical support for slavery is a prime example. southern baptists and other conservative christians use scripture to keep women and gays down because they have a legacy of wanting to hate someone...on god's behalf, of course.
