I just found out that the catheters that I use will not be payed for by medi/medi.I can still get catheters but not the ones I am currently using. The catheters I am using now have a full bag where as the kind I will be getting if I order them will not have a bag just the tube.
I was wondering if there was a solution for this so I can still get the same catheters I am using now?
I would really like to keep using them if possible.

Is there any other catheter that is similar, but not as expensive? I learned an interesting fact from a DME guy last week. I'd inquired as to whether I could purchase less expensive catheters (the website had them for 71 cents each) in order to bring down my Medicare copay ($54/mo). He informed me that as long as a catheter cost less than the set amount Medicare pays, it doesn't matter. They pay X amount regardless of the actual cost. How fricken insane is that?

So, the set amount is somewhere around $270/mo. If Medicare paid by actual consumer cost, they could save around $140/mo just on my catheters alone. Not to mention, if the government actually negoiated prices for high volume purchases like a private company does, they should be purchasing catheters for 50 cents, or less. Things like this seem so common sense. It makes me crazy(ier)!

I am not sure what other type of catheters my medical supplier has other than the current catheters.I did not talk to the lady,my mom did,but all she said was that the catheters that would be covered would be "intermittent" that are just the tube with no bag.

Does anyone here use this type of catheter?
If so how is using one other than at your house?

I don't about you but not everywhere I go I can fit in a bathroom.
