Paulwa, you are equating being a fundamentalist Christian with being a loyal US citizen, and that's a huge mistake. Our constitution very specifically states that there shall be no religious test to hold any office anywhere in our country.
There's absolutely no reason a person couldn't be a devout Muslim and still be president or hold any other office as long as they swear to uphold the constitution. If you don't agree with that then YOU'RE the one who isn't staying true to the wishes of the founding fathers.

To a Christian Islam is a cancer, because of its silent deadliness. Not to this Christian. I don't hold this belief. I know many other Christians who don't believe this way. You are bearing false witness.

Well if that is the way you all feel that is fine. My beliefs carry me away from all this hullabalou. All I can do is wish you the best fortune. Don't know why I feel it necessary to wrap myself up in this misery anyway. Just hate to see people marching over a cliff without warnng them. That is my perception of what is taking place soon. Paulwa, you just seem consumed by fear lately. Please stop burying yourself in whatever you're watching or reading and just get out and interact witth nature and the real world. I think you'll see that things are going along pretty much the way they always have, and the sky isn't falling.
Even if you're right, what possible good does it do to keep obsessing about it?

I am not fearful, just angry with our government and its direction. I am angry about the Mosque being placed so close to ground zero because I percieve it to be a Moslem slap in the face and they don't even give a damn how we feel!!! It is enough almost to cause Americans to rise up in arms with all that this is growing into and I don't like to see that happen here on American ground. It may just be the way things are and no one can do anything about it but suffer its fallout. Paul

That was part of our foundation. Weren't you advocating for us to follow our constitution not too long ago? The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment prohibits the establishment of a national religion by the Congress or the preference of one religion over another, non-religion over religion, or religion over non-religion. Why are you suddenly so eager to go against our Bill of Rights?

Because I am totally convinced Islamists are out to get the upper hand of America by twisting our own constitution and bill of rights against us legally and it pisses me off at their filthy arrogance and they will succeed because of the iidiocy of some people who refuse to see their underhandedness. There maybe millons of peacefull followers of Islam around the world right now, but if they follow the koran to the letter (and it is very likely they will one day) they will turn on all other religions to wipe them out and to take over their countries. Nothing will convince me otherwise, they are just waiting for the right population ratio's to kick in. Paul

Paulwa, I remember people saying those exact same things back in the 50's and 60's except the fear was communism instead of radical Islam. We survived communism and we'll survive this, too.
Try to have a little faith in your country and it's leadership instead of being so negative.

If the Mormons decided to build a temple in the location, would it be okay?

Paul, I don't necessarily think things will go that far but I DON'T put Anything past the possibility...I mean, I think anything is concievably possible. I also live in the bible belt now so it was shocking to me to find how people so openly talk about the bible here and their religions. Yet, we are a moving country and so wherever you live, there is a huge diversity of folk. As it is here where I live. I listen and I know from past and present that many (most) of the older generation are way way more leary of the direction our country is going in than the younger generation. And, for good reason. We gotta listen to 'em. They are no dumbies.
Heck, I guess i think anything is possible cus ....for one, I broke my neck. Who in a million years would have imagined myself breaking her neck? never...and those of you who also broke your back or your neck, I'm sure you think the same. And from my remembrance of those who have zero faith in our doctors to care for us in all of our various ways....there has been little ...almost ZERO good to be said of the medical profession. I've put my very little 2cents in for the positive....and I am the only one I can think of who has.
faith and belief and trust...it comes in all various forms and amts., per person and nobody can say who (esPecially on a messageboard on the internet) is happy or who is sad or who is paranoid or who is this or that. YOU don't KNOW. because you don't know and live with each other, nor know each others' pasts or present conditions, family dynamics, etc etc. I tire of the 'personal' attachments (putdowns) that follow a posting of belief/thinking/opinion. If some one says something on this board, it is going to stand as tall as anothers' posting. You aren't going to eliminate it. And you don't help someone by trying to change their beliefs. Or giving them advice about your interpretation of their beliefs. All you can do is post your own. Don't do what you don't want done to yourself.

I am starting to hope Sarah Palin wins in 2012. Then there would be an awakening!
