A series of solar flares over the last several days is expected to cause a display of northern lights to be visible tonight after midnight (early Wednesday morning), and tomorrow night after midnight (early Thursday morning).
The auroral display is expected to be visible in Canada, northern Europe, and northern states of the U.S.A.
States where the aurora is likely to be visible include Washington state on the west coast, through Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Minnesota, and North Dakota in the midwest, and stretching all the way to Maine, New Hampshire, and as far south as northern New York state in the east.
The flares are expected to be visible at the following times:
Wednesday, Aug. 4 – 3:00 a.m. EDT
Wednesday, Aug. 4 – 8:00 p.m. EDT
Thursday, Aug. 5 – 2:00 a.m. EDT
