I find the title of the article misleading since the report is on juice drinks rather than pure juices.

No juice is better than juicing your own, whether it is orange juice, carrot, grapefruit, apple, pear, peach, pineapple, melon, tomato, etc... And if the produce is organic, even better. I am lucky that we have a nice farmers market with a lot of organic stands twice a week in our neighborhood. We usually buy the second quality fruit in huge quantities at one third to a quarter of the regular price. When you juice it, a few spots on the outside don't matter.
Any juice you buy will have been processed or tapered with in some way and won't have the same nutrients as fresh squeezed juice. And fresh squeezed juice tastes so much better too. Most juice you buy in the grocery story will have been pasteurized and in many cases a lot of additives have been added also. Fresh juice is one of the best cleanses you can give to your body.

I agree that fresh juice is better than anything you can buy at the store (unless your store has one of those juice bars where they squeeze it while you watch) but I suspect that consuming just the juice rather than the entire fruit or vegetable concentrates the sugar level and minimizes the fiber. I suspect you would be better off eating the whole thing

Actually that is a good point. Drinking too much pure juice will cause your sugar level to rise. That's why it is recommended to mix your fruit juices with vegetable juices, preferably green leafy vegetables (e.g. kale, chard, romaine lettuce), if you drink large quantities of juice. That cuts the sugar and you can hardly taste the greens. The major benefit is that you also get your vegetable nutrients without even tasting the vegetables - in case you don't like eating vegetables. At least that is what my wife and I do. We even mix it with small amounts of wheat grass juice. Just enough so you don't taste the wheat grass.

Anyone try the Vitamix mixer? Supposed to be the best thing for juicing
