I bought a couple of cans of Progresso green pea soup with bacon to try. On sale for $1 a can. It is the type that doesn't require any additional water or milk. I poured it into a small pan and added a couple of squirts of sunflower oil to replace the fat taken out and a bit of salt and pepper and heated on stove top. The soup fixed this way nis delicious but the large handful of whole peas they include are old hard and tough peas that no creature would enjoy eating. So for the soup fixefd this way a hardy thumbs up but for the whole peas...definately would be better used as ammunition in a pea shooter! ;-) Worth trying just for the soup...if you like pea soup. Would be a pretty light meal though...add lots of crackers for bulk. Paul
Also with this hot summer I am stocked up with Wyler's Italian Ices in my freezer. About five popular flavors. Just clip the end of the long narrow plastic sack and slurp away. Kools ya right down and is pretty tasty. There are other brands such as kool aide but Wylers is best flavor and the $1 store has them at yep..$1 a box of approximately 8 tubes. I think they could be emptied into your favorite container of choice too. Paul
Right, Colorde, me too so I add a bit of milk to some of the soups like tomato with basil and sunflower oil to all of them but only a couple of squirts. Salt and pepper helps with the flavor too. Campbell soups it seems to me used to be a lot more flavorful than they are now. Probably because of the defatting process and lower sodium. You have to add things to put the flavor back in. Paul
I agree too with corey ...the only soup I have been willing to buy would be the cream of mushroom (to make as soup) and the bean-with-bacon and disappointment in the latter ...i think my mom use to make it with half a can of water cus I remember it being much thicker. I even think it is soupy. And I really don't care for Progresso. Not sure why...think maybe it smells like hospital food. I lIke! hospital food...just not the smell.
