The PT Cruiser is the only one I would have been interested in but they are dropping it from the lineup. Well I probably would have never bought one anyway.

They didn't mention the Chevy HHR, which is a small wagon with a front end styled like the Chevy pickups of the early 1950's. I liked the looks of it and my wife sat in one at a car show and also liked it a lot.

They've got a lot of space inside for a small car and so far have tested out fairly well by Consumer Reports. If we found a decent used one I'd buy one for her to toodle around in, although I'd never be able to ride in it.

The problems (for me anyway) with both the PT Cruiser and the Chevy HHR was that they were four door. If they had been available in 2-door models with larger doors like 2-door cars have I would have been very interested. A friend had a Cruiser and getting in and out was easy for me, but I couldn't load my chair. I don't know anyone with the HHR, so I can't comment.

I think the Cruiser in later years came as a 2-door rag top but I have never been comfortable without a "real lid."

I'm having a problem with "retro". The Mustangs just look like fairly accurate duplicates of the older ones. Is that really retro?
Same with the T Bird. The PT Crusier, on the other hand, was not a
recreation of any previous Chrysler. Some say it's inspired by the Airflow but I don't see it. I'd say maybe 38 Ford?
Challenger, Charger- never liked them except the fastback Charger which was not a muscle car. The HHR also, like the PT seems retro. It's not a close duplicate but creates or suggests an image or feel of a much older car. It will be very easy in 40 years to create retro cars of today's. All one needs is a non-descript oval blob. My favorite car that should be resurrected is the Saab 95 wagon- 3 cylinder, 2 cycle. The Magnum wagon is sort of retro with the feel of a chopped type like was popular on the 49-50 2 dr. Mercurys. I think true retro
is an art and the designers are very talented to create a style with just a hint and suggestion of a classic from the past.
