A family can't live on unemployment benefits. Single people who crash at other people's houses, or rent a room in a home...maybe. I don't see it giving most no incentive to work. Of course there are always some who take advantage of programs that dole out money.

No, they can't live on unemployment benes. That is why all these other fed govt entities are being beefed up...it's extra support for them.

I'm not sure what else is being beefed up?

Of course, if the small business jobs bill doesn't pass, job growth probably won't move much faster than last quarter.

I guess I refer to the increase in the foodstamps, the charity organizations (not fed related) and I'm pretty sure there are others.
But what is in the small business jobs bill? I believe, from hearing about what is happening in small businesses, that the healthcare bill has a huge influence on the small employer's slashing their payroll. Eliminating jobs. What else can they do?

You left out the fact that the new health care bills caused every disease known to man...lol The slashing was largely done before there was a health care bill.

One huge benefit the health care bill will have is to level the playing field. Some small business have tried to offer health benefits to their employees, but when their competitors don't it put them at a disadvantage.

Now all except very small businesses will be required to offer health care, and things will be equal. It may mean a small increase in prices, but I'm more than willing to pay a little more for things if it means everyone will be covered.

Our old system was a nightmare since trying to collect from uninsured patients was a huge headache for most doctors and hospitals. That has been one of the factors driving up insurance costs for those of us with health plans.

Universal coverage should reduce health costs for everyone, and hopefully that will counterbalance any increased prices businesses pass on due to having to insure their employees.

I know what I know, here, too. I'm lookig at an example of it in my own family with a small business they own. And I've heard of the recent convention of other businesses (trade show too) ...they all are experiencing the same thing. These are businesses that are not 'in the same business" so you talk all you want. The new healthcare plan and other things under Obama that he's put into place are detrimental to small business. Thankfully, our governor in my state is focused bigtime on small businesses even if Obama thinks he is and has good intentions...

If you want to find out what is happening at your neighbor's house, do you ask the neighbor, or do you just rely on what you heard from a friend of a friend?

Don't you want to know both sides of the story?
