Does anyone here gets UTI's frequently? If so, how did you stop it from happening so frequently?

Cranberry juice seems to reduce the frequency of UTI's, but is more effective in women. Some people who have posted on this website have reported that cranberry pills and tablets have worked for them. Others report good results from taking the sugar d-mannose (which MAY be the ingredient that makes cramberries work). If you have an infection, cranberry juice will NOT cure it, but once you are infection free it MIGHT help prevent the next one, especially if your infection is e-coli.

Good luck!

I am hesitant to mention this but there is a product named Microcyn that could help with UTI's even though the FDA has not approved it for this purpose. (The topic has been discussed vigorously on another forum.) I am testing it now and will be back after my visit to my urologist.

I drink only water and cranberry juice, no exceptions. I have had one uti in the last 23 years of C2/3 incomplete.

Millard, do you have a SP catheter? I've read some of the thread at Care/Cure.

Please let us know how your experiment turns out and what your urologist has to say about Microcyn and UTIs.

Hi Sam,

I use Microsyn & Vetericyn for everything. They will heal pressure sores or any type of open wound. Right now I am UTI clear and am starting a preventive program by infusing my bladder one night a week with 20 cc's.

If you read up on it, you'll find it fascinating reading. http://www.oculusis.com.

Regards,

Rex,
This is impressive. I should get back to a cranberry juice routine. I understand that some of the juices are primarily sugar and water. What type of juice do you buy? Thanks for a response. Winterwhite.

Oceanspray Crangrape - Mix it with 70% water. I don't think I drink enough cran to make a difference. But I do think not drinking other stuff makes a difference. Try to avoid anything acidic like citrix drinks (orange juice, grapefruit juice, etc.). I doubt alcohol is good for avoiding UTI's. Drinking only water w/ a little cran in it will also help keep your weight down.

This may go against what Rex just said but I have been drinking a little bit of lemon juice with a glass of water every morning for the last year or so and it seems to work preety good.I was told about this from someone else who also heard it from another.

I just put enough lemon juice in a glass/cup and fill it with water.

And I will tell you this,I have pushed it quite a few times. From waiting too long between cathing to drinking beer every so often and have been clear of UTI's when I would get them just about every three months before.

I drink just about anything threw out the day but mostly water.I still drink cranberry juice but not like I used to.
