LOL....They removed 652,000 people from "unemployed" and reclassified them as "not seeking employment" to allow Obama to announce the 9.5% rate and state we are on showing improved status. He didn't even mention the 2010 graduates who have no job prospects. The books will really have to be cooked to claim a 7.9% rate by the Nov. election, BUT "HE CAN" do it (cook the books, not create or save enough jobs)by Nov. Unemployment Rate

Bob, the stats are always getting skewed by things like people who'd quit looking for work but have now started again because some employers are hiring back people and extended unemployment benefits keeping people delayed looking for work. If you look at hours worked/week, average hourly rate, length of work week and number of temporary workers being hired the indicators point in one direction. A little more loosening of credit and optimism from CEOs and the US numbers should start really falling.

Come on, Bob, "they" have always measured unemployment stats in this manner. Why change now?

Corporations have plenty of money sitting on the sidelines. They need to know what the tax rates are going to be, what new half-assed rules and regulations they will be operating under, will there be Cap & Trade legislation coming from a lame-duck congress and what other surprises will be sprung on them?

Business needs a degree of certainty before it will invest in expansion.

It takes more than a few speeches from BHO, to get the economy moving. His words don't mean much at this point unless you are a union leader.

We are going thru a second wave of job cuts now. And we've not had our country in such a weak state for several decades. I agree w both your posts, yosemite. And we can't afford to keep Obama in office for another term. Can Not, afford it.

really? I haven't heard that. Do you have any references to back up that claim?

It must not be fun these days for all the Obama haters. The world must seem like a dark place. ewwwwwww, depressing. For those who feel Obama is really screwing up things, maybe look at this way. If Obama had lost the election then McCain/Palin would have been the leaders of the "free" world. Now THAT would have been a terrifying reality!
