Paulwa, if Christians all get raptured before the tribulation, how will there be any left around to endure it? Isn't the whole point of the tribulation to provide the ultimate test of the faith of Christians?

Sort of like the trials of Job, but on a global basis.

In my opinion, belief in the rapture negates the purpose of Christ's sacrifice.

lmao...turn the tables and you'd be calling for the head of any politician who came out against religion, yet it's ok for atheists to be excluded from citizenship.

Paul, you have claimed numerous times to not judge other ppl's beliefs, yet here you are claiming all the churches ghoti mentioned are wrong. Chances are just as good you are wrong. Chances are just as good all religions are wrong. Chances are just as good any religion could be right. Stating a belief as fact and condemning any who disagree makes you look fanatical.

Anybody is free to believe whatever they like, but when you talk about the pre-trib rapture as if it's some proven fact and claim that nearly all Christians accept it then you're going too far. Just because all the preachers you listen to keep repeating it doesn't make it true.

Go talk to a Catholic priest or a minister from one of the mainline protestant churches yourself if you don't believe me or all the links I posted.

The last I knew the Pope believed in the rapture according to Jack Van Impe.

So I should just drop my firm beliefs and follow all the churches who don't believe like I do? Rediculous Shakey.

No, but it probably doesn't benefit you to talk about "your beliefs" because Paul, it makes you look crazy. But, it is the internet, so, whatever.

You're entitled to your opinion, and since I respect you as a person I'll refrain from responding in kind.

I'm with ghoti on this one... As a Buddhist I have always felt the same way, that because I did not believe in a god, my family and I were somehow unwelcomed and undeserving of living in the U.S...

Well, not to worry, I have thick skin and I don't need you to tell me what I am entitled to. Who said anything about respect as a person? I'll get through my day if I lose random strangers "opinion" of me, who I do not know on the internet. Personally, I have no opinion of you either way.

No offense.

Probably.

But back to the point of the pledge, and its origins (reasons), I think I am accurate and stand by my statements.

Believe what you like - just don't spread lies and don't talk about your beliefs as if they were proven facts. As regards the Catholic view of the rapture:

Van Impe is a false prophet. Last week when my brother & sister-in-law were here, I mentioned something about how the "Christian Right" were hoping the rapture was on the doorstep. My sister-in-law was raised Catholic and said that she was taught about the rapture. I was shocked as I knew Catholic held the same belief as Lutherans in that regard. After further discussion, what she calls 'the rapture' is the end of the world, same as Lutherans.
