There is a Place

There is a place at the top of the hill
It calls to me
And, all things point in its direction

Waffle not on twists and turns
And things that lead downhill

When you know you have a good thing
Whatever that thing may be,
Be bold and move yourself evermore that way.

Be pointedly decided
that 'It' is good
And that you have the angels by your side

The world is full of nonbelievers
And those who just don't care
But,
As surely as the candle holds its flame
The day will follow night
Until we are no more.

Inspired by me, & God

Nice fantasy. Now for some truth thanks to Warren Zevon and Jackson Browne: And if California slides into the ocean
Like the mystics and statistics say it will
I predict this motel will be standing until I pay my bill. :p

But I don't put my FAITH in mystics nor statistics; I find most if not all truths I've ever learned to be only partial, figuring the whole will come to me after I die and am joined with God and those in Heaven.

Maybe this is more to your liking:

Like the slab of bacon in the skillet of life,
It beats a heart of inconsistency:
throbbing and pulsing, bulging,
Popping, exploding, curling,
and shrinking,
from all the fat that sizzles below
until it is fully fried.
And thus becomes an accompaniment
to
a side of broken, beaten, and scrambled
pile of egg.

edit for other posters: thank you

"Like a slab of bacon in the skillet of life" - now there's something I can relate to.

There is a place at the top of the hill,
whose neon light glows bright, as its fine aroma
of coffee and hash,
Drifts down the hill before light.

Like the slab of bacon in the skillet of life,
It beats a heart of pleasure for all,

Throbbing and pulsing,
Popping, exploding, curling, and shrinking,
From all the fat that sizzles below
until it is fully fried.

And thus becomes an accompaniment
To another great pleasure in life,
A mound of beaten, and scrambled eggs
So perfect you need no knife.

It sustains the day as the bread of life,
And gets one through their tasks.

Should they question your smile,
And aura of content,
You say "buddy, I'm glad you asked
cause there is a place at the top of the hill...

OK Aevory, it's three o'clock,
I've had no lunch,
And your poetry inspired me so,
That I buried my thoughts,
In the meaning of life,
While into the kitchen I go!

I hope you don't mind me drawing such great inspiration from
the descriptive content of your second entry that my taste buds compelled me to slightly alter it. So if imitation is the greatest compliment in life my bothering to play around with your post is the second greatest. Hope you don't mind.

That's what I'm talkin about. I LOVE it, Paul l, and thank you for using mine, as well.
I'm more sensitive than folk may think, I got a clump in my throat on a few of your lines. Thanks for making my day here. Have a good one, yourself!

The first bit of writing was just something I got inspiration to do After I had finished a painting. Most times, I don't know what I'm going to paint until It tells Me. And so...it was just what the painting told me to write.

The second bit I posted was also inspiration....from shakey's post. It may not have been what he intended because my reaction was just a bit of disgust. I felt like once again folk were poo-pooing faith and religion. How in the World we have that going on, anywhere, is beyond me. There is a bad light that can cover just about anything that exists and ...now I'm reminded of that songwriter Leonard Cohen and something about there is a crack in everything, where the light shines thru...if you want to concentrate on the bad all the time then you're following a dark light. I'd rather follow a bright one.

One last thing here: For all the times I've read that religion was the cause of wars and etc...no, no way. It is because of the ignorance of people. The ignorance on all sides of the equation about religion. Religion is not bad. Religion and faith is good.

So I guess religion is like a loaded revolver-it's up to the person behind it to determine its goal. I can go along with that.

Glad you weren't PO'ed at my plagiarism. It was fun. I can paint in a manner of speaking but have no graphic creativity. Interesting how your visual and verbal are linked. Guess I'll go scramble some eggs - 3 eggs, a little milk, some diced American cheese with a tiny touch of garlic powder in an old jar with a lid.
Shake it well, pour into a medium hot pan and scramble. Don't dry it out.

I'm not disgusted by your delusions, just mildly amused. If you can't figure out why ppl poo-poo faith and religion, you haven't been paying attention. your last sentence pretty much proves you haven't been.

I dunno which last sentence you're referring to, shakey. And so, if you could reiterate why poo-pooing something good is worth your time, please, then maybe I could understand, now that you have my full attention.

No, I don't think it's like a loaded revolver cus you can get educated about that gun and how to use it, ..hands on. Religion is much a 'feeling'..which is why we all get it somewhat wrong...and need the spirit of God to help us, the Holy Spirit. Do you need the Holy Spirit to determine whether to use the revolver or not? Nope..not me. If I'm threatened and it's my life or his, I'm gonna aim and pull the trigger. That's instinct and automatic reaction. Religion, the Bible, and faith are an eternal study.

After all my years of living, I finally realized I could make the perfectly cooked egg (and better for you than fried) by setting my little toaster/oven to bake/broil, bake, and full setting of 'dark' (as in toasting a piece of bread). When the timer goes off it is perfectly cooked. So it may not overrun, i put it in a little three poacher tin with the little broiler pan under it for spills and filled with a cup or less of water..just to give it more of a moist heating. And put the bacon in the microwave in a microwave bacon rack for one minute. The bacon's done before the egg but you can just read a bit and ..wallah, breakfast is ready. I am so use to just frying my egg...pretty stupid of me not to have ever tried this before. Sounds like your's is goood eating.

Should have said your last paragraph. This one: "One last thing here: For all the times I've read that religion was the cause of wars and etc...no, no way. It is because of the ignorance of people. The ignorance on all sides of the equation about religion. Religion is not bad. Religion and faith is good. "

It's worth my time, because it amuses me to watch ppl deny reality like you did in this paragraph. And because you religious types are so cute when you whine abt how badly you are treated by the big bad non-believers.

Well Shakey if we Christians are right we will get to hear a lot of whining from the big bad non-believers one day..so I guess it will all equal out in the end.

There's a land that I see where the children are free
And I say it ain't far to this land from where we are
Take my hand, come with me, where the children are free
Come with me, take my hand, and we'll live

In a land where the river runs free
In a land through the green country
In a land to a shining sea
And you and me are free to be you and me

I see a land bright and clear, and the time's comin' near
When we'll live in this land, you and me, hand in hand
Take my hand, come along, lend your voice to my song
Come along, take my hand, sing a song

For a land where the river runs free
For a land through the green country
For a land to a shining sea
For a land where the horses run free
And you and me are free to be you and me
