Get those damn socialists and tree huggers out of gov't. Just look how socialist gov't has messed up Canada. Less regulation and monitoring is needed, it prevents companies growing the economy. Just look how lax regulation ensured spectacular bank profits!
Drill baby drill, where is loud mouth Palin now? Tea baggers demand less gov't just don't mess with their personal entitlements.
UNTIL the shyt (or oil) hits the fan and then the song changes. Just wait, if there is a gulf based hurricane and oil + toxic dispersants get aerosolized and blown hundreds of miles inland and humans will then get a personal feel for what gulf wild life is experiencing. AND THEN, where do they all run to, kicking and screaming? PATHETIC

Palin is still chanting "drill baby drill" .... Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is using the Gulf Coast oil spill to promote the issue of drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife National Refuge – the 20-million protected acres where untapped oil and gas reserves have long served as a lightning rod of controversy.
"Xtreme Greenies: see now why we push 'drill, baby, drill' of known reserves & promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?" the former Republican vice presidential nominee wrote Tuesday evening on her Twitter account.
That comment followed a similarly-themed tweet last week after President Obama announced a moratorium on deep offshore drilling for six months, while an independent commission reviews the explosion of the BP rig that caused the ongoing leak.
"Deep offshore moratorium? Then correspondingly allow more onshore drilling, incl ANWR reserves. Domestic oil's still required in US industry," she tweeted Thursday.
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Palin was a strong advocate of drilling both offshore and in ANWR, a position that was repeatedly expressed her now-famous phrase "Drill Baby Drill."
In her Oct. 2008 vice presidential debate with Joe Biden, Palin specifically took aim at him for opposing offshore drilling efforts.
"You even called drilling – safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore – as raping the outer continental shelf," Palin said at the debate. "There – with new technology, with tiny footprints even on land, it is safe to drill and we need to do more of that." cnn

I learned this morning there is 220,000 miles of land base pipeline transporting oil and one, just one gov't guy in charge of safety. It is handled by the oil companies.
Sad how it comes down to Palin or Xtreme Greenies.

Capitalism works fairly well when its regulated by honest people not obsessed with greed or power needs.
Your post should have been "Democracy, Ain't it great when the majority are not interested"

Regulated capitalism, like in the case of the offshore drilling, or investment banking or health care?
The US decrys Canada's regulated capitalism as socialism.
I feel comfortable with how my country draws the line between capitalism and socialism. Can you say the same of the US?

Kind of strange I think when the members of government in Canada speak a foreign language to the majority of the countries citzens. But then Canada, though nice is also a bit foreign to most Americans though a great many of Canadians choose to come down here to live and can just walk across the border unannounced in a great many places, deliver their packages and walk back across again! Very strange.. Paul

Well since this thread is the only business I have to take care of today...I was on target with my comments. I kind of get tired of snide Canadian comments about our country, see how you like some of those comments back. Paul

I found your comments amusing and not snide at all, even if they were uninformed and OFF TOPIC. See us Canadians, for the most part, embrace our bilingualism (your time is coming also, you may wish you'd paid more attention in Spanish class), Canadians and Americans move with relative ease across our shared border, I see that as a good thing.
So if you want to try and zing me you're going to have to try harder.

Israel has shot themselves in the foot, yet again and other countries will suffer because of it. Turkey today voted against Iranian sanctions at the UN driving them further from the west and more towards Tehran.

I don't worry about Israel because they are the apple of God's eye and He will take care of them but Glen Beck is like the mongoose who has the cobra by the neck and he won't turn loose. Just don't know what is down our path in America..but Israel..don't worry about them. Israels enemes will melt down on the battlefield forever from the moment they strike! Paul

I know Flicka, because the majority of them are secular, atheist and agnostic, with just a smaller solid core of Torah following Jews. They know what is coming..the rest are just ignorant of God and fearful but they have, even then, a spirit of bravery and high intelligence, more than their enemies seem to exhibit. Prophecy says God will seal away a 144,000 Jews of the 12 tribes of Israel and they will evangeliize the world at the end of the age. To some this will happen as sure as law but to others it is only a myth. We will see. Paul

Great buying opportunity:
BP shares trading on U.S. exchanges fell more than 15 percent to a 14-year low on Wednesday on growing worries about the costs the oil company will incur after the Gulf of Mexico oil leak.
Depositary shares closed [BP 29.20 -5.4775 (-15.8%)] at $29.20, down $5.46 on the New York Stock Exchange, the lowest closing level since August 14, 1996. The stock has lost more than half its value since the April 20 disaster.
"It seems that shares are under pressure from the fear of whether BP can survive. It is not just a rumor about the potential of a dividend cut in BP anymore. Now it's about the survivability of the company," said Jon Najarian, a founder of Web information site optionMonster.com in Chicago.
"Frequently panics like this are buying opportunities but given that what is going on is one mile under the ocean no one is comfortable with the facts as presented so far."

Can't understand why BP wants to burn off the oil instead of collecting it and processing it. Would it cost that much? It has to be collected anyway. This oil isn't any worse condition than the oil we processed out of the Californian oil fields where I worked. The old Monarch field in Maricopa was so waxy and sandy it looked like hot blacktop almost and was loaded with salt water too. Paul
