I am interested in a cruise with destination ports: Barcelona, Spain; Cannes (Monte Carlo), France; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy.
Has anyone had any experience in this type of cruises? If I use a motorized wheelchair, will the activities at each port be accessible?

No, not unless you research them yourself. The cruise lines don't offer any truly accessible excursions. Been covering this for some 15-plus years. You have to book them yourself. That's what I do -- report on accessible options. There are small suppliers out there, but the cruise lines won't use them. Find a TA who can book these (independent excursions) for you (for a charge) -- someone who can do itinerary planning.

I think cruising is one of the most convenient ways to travel in a wheelchair. I have been on six cruises during my 23 quad years and I love it. I have never gone on a Southern European cruise, but I did a 10 day Northern European one with my parents, wife, son, and stepson. It was just wonderful. Out of 7 the ports (Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Talinn, Gdansk, and Oslo) I only could not get off the ship in Stockholm because they used a tender. I wrote about my cruise experiences and you can read it here if you are interested. But my main advice is to check with your travel agent or the cruise line directly to inquire at how many ports a tender is used to bring you ashore. If there are several, I recommend looking into another itinerary that is more accessible.
