something about this "terrorist attack" really seems fishey, the ineptitude of the effort appears purposeful to me

You'd think if it had been planned and directed by al-Queda it wouldn't have been quite so inept and amateurish (although I'm sure glad it failed).

I don't know where you got that info from.

Here's the scoop:

Quote:
hortly before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the vendors — Lance Orton and Duane Jackson, who both served during the Vietnam War and now rely on special sidewalk vending privileges for disabled veterans — said they told nearby officers about the Pathfinder, which had begun filling with smoke and then emitted sparks and popping sounds.

Got an Email today that supposedly is from a Muslim undercover guy. He says our government is not telling us the types of attacks coming up in the future. He says they will be small and numerous across the nation and many will be by American Muslims. A suitcase of plastic explosives left in places of high activity. He says like a guy leaving his luggage in a line to be checked out (airport or whatever) and asking someone to watch it in line while he runs for a drink of water or some other excuse and detonating remotely before leaving the bulding getting into his car and driving away. Sounds very scary if this guy is right. They plan on numerous such attacks. No more high tech such as flying planes into buildings..not necessary and he says they have lots of willing bodies to do the jobs. Yikes.

I think he is wrong in saying our government isn't telling us about this. People have been calling in suspicious packages since 9-11. About 5 years ago when we were checking into a hotel in Vegas, someone had left a bag sitting in front of the counter. Bill mentioned it to the check-in clerk and started to pick it up to hand it to her. She freaked & called security. Also, if you've flown, or been in an airport since 9-11, that is one BIGGIE they stress...don't let your carry-on bag out-of-sight, or watch strangers' luggage for them.

We are very aware of this type of terrorism.

Yeah, who could imagine a president and its administration who's been known to create the slogan "Let's not get all we wee-d (weed?) up about it" not letting us know.

I neither need nor want the government to tell all the details about everything going on. If we were told of every plot they've foiled and all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes it would probably scare the crap out of us.

Anybody ever read the Alan Drury series of political novels? I think "Advise and Consent" was the first one and there was quite a continuing series after that. He had been a political reporter for many years in D.C. turned novelist so his stories are fictional but probably realistic.

The series may be kind of dated now be he talked about all the behind-the-scenes stuff that went on in government and it was enough to make your hair stand on end.

as much as i like information and facts, i agree with ghoti

i think the freedom of information act goes to far with government info to the public

i feel the government needs covert operations and stuff kept private

paul and others say we are losing rights, yet they cant name anything except smoking inside, or legalizing drugs, lol... or some trivial thing

we have so many legal rights its actually shocking to me

anyone who thinks we dont have many rights is a freaking moron
