I have been wondering for some time if it would be fine to get in a swimming pool with my wound.I would ask the doctor but I thaught that maybe someone here has done it without any infections accuring from doing so.
I am actually wondering if it would be a good idea of going into a natural spring.I am not far at all from Palm Springs and there is a place that has got natural springs ranging in diffent temperatures.I think the coolest is somewhere in the 80 degree range.

Good idea or Bad idea?

I would be very hesitant to climb into a public pool with open wounds. The natural springs sound ideal, but it all depends on how exposed you would be to other people's germs. If you have infection in the wound, you would be exposing others to that also.

I am all clear of any infections.I was thinking that if I did go to the natural hot springs that I could ask to be alone that way there is a little less risk.Ofcourse I would be taking the bandage off but would be wearing shorts.
I most likely would bring it up to my doctor but was wondering if anybody here has done anything similar.

Flicka?
Just wondering.What county is SLO?

San Luis Obispo. We are on the coast, half way between LA & SF.

I've been thinking this over and think you should talk to your doctor. If you are infection free, it would be a shame to pick something up...

hi, 4wheeler,

i had a sore on my butt's left cheek and wanted to go to the pool. my family doctor discouraged me to do so because like you you, i was infection free and he said i could pick one in the pool. ( it was a club one, not private )

i'd think that the hot springs would be ok, but again, better being safe than sorry.

do you have to wait until the appt with the doctor? can't you call and ask to talk to the doctor's nurse? she/he would know or they could ask the doctor and call you back. that's what i do when i have a question for my doctor.

I called over to the wound care and asked the nurse if she could ask the doctor about it.He was not there but she said that it would probably not be a good idea. She also said that he would probably say the same thing.

So I guess that idea if out for now.Hopefully one of these days.
