Absolutely!

I would love to see homes & neighborhoods become self-sufficient.

the only way we will be is to drill on our own

As a national oil company? My only problem with Obama allowing new offshore drilling is that it will be exported. I see no sense in selling off a limited, valuable resource.

so hoard it untouched and keep buying overseas?

how about a governmemnt owned and run oil company?

according to roadrunner, theres unlimited oil soooooo.. hehe

i guess i think if we drilled our own we'd only supply the united states with no need for overseas oil?

is that a unrealistic goal? or a dream?

what would be the drawbacks?

or is it cheaper to subcontract companies to drill?

At this time it is unrealistic & a dream. I actually don't have a problem with allowing oil companies to drill IF we charged them a fair price for leases and got a percent of the profit. As it is now, they take billions of dollars out of our supply at practically no charge from us. In fact, we have even been known to GIVE the oil companies money as an incentive to pump our oil out of the ground.

Hoard it to the point that we will always have enough to defend the motherland from those who wish to do us evil.
