And IMO this Pope has not been the right man for the job since he was elected by the College of Cardinals.
IMO Ratzinger lobbied long and hard for the job. He is not (IMO) a humble man, but a man who's had his eyes on the prize for years.
Sadly, there is no "impeachment" equivalent for a Pope.

you do realize every priest probably knows about the coverup and many guilty priests, just from others word of mouth in the organzation, yet they keep thier mouth shut
doesnt that kinda prove a job and money are more important than ethics or religion?
bad people everywhere, but a coverup with this magnitude on such a serious crime makes u wonder what else is hushed........ or even if religion is made up ?

So are pedophiles attracted to being priests because it is a protected environment with access to boys or because they hope being a priest well help them control their urges?

ok, so by merrys thoughts, its ok for priests to stay silent if they know of others molesting children....... since its not about ethics or money as merry says
and why do they stay silent? fear of losing job, so that proves moneys more important to them....... because if they knew of a parishner or neighbor doing it, theyd call cops right merry?

You assume that every Catholic priest is at fault.
I can assure you, most priests are NOT at fault, and are as hurt and baffled as the rest of us. Perhaps even more hurt.

why would anyone stay silent then? its either fear, money, or job...... cuz i doubt any priest just wouldnt care...... can you think of more reasons?
shakes, your right about following orders, common sense says priests follow orders, but i highly doubt catholics threatened lives like nazis did....... and absolutely wrong in both cases
my friends old neighbor was a priest, he said all the priests knew of abuse stuff and other scandals but were 'ordered' to never talk about it..... he told my friend once [when drinking, hehe] how shocked the world would be if certain things came to light..... 1 was where money went
its a whole 'secret' society..... as facts show coming to light the last 20 years

it's sad that so many high up priests/cardinals/pope knew about this and covered it up. just reading the letters that ratzinger sent is sooo chilling. all they could think of was the "reputation" of the church, not about the damage to so many ppl. they may say sorry now, but sure as hell weren't at the time. as a person who went thru this stuff myself (not with a priest by my father) sorry just doesn't cut it. especially when u know they tried to silence you and cover things up
