The biggie of the year. I was going to type a bunch of stuff about the services but instead I have copied parts of the letter Fr. Michael sent out.

Yesterday was Palm Sunday - the Liturgy of the Palms when we commemorate Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

Maundy Thursday is April 1. Maundy Thursday begins the Triduum Sacrum (the sacred three days). This service of Holy Eucharist contains two distinct elements that assist us in calling to mind Christ’s new maundatum, “I give to you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you you also should love one another.” Jn 13.34

The first element is the foot washing, in which Jesus shows the lengths to which we might go to show that love to one another. The focus of Maundy Thursday is the Eucharist. We hear again the story of the last meal Jesus shared with his friends. Reginald Fuller called Maundy Thursday that “brief bright hour” before we plunge into the darkness of Good Friday. The service ends in silence with the stripping of the altar; a preparation for the day to come.

Stations of the Cross will be observed at noon on Good Friday, April 2 in the church. At this hour, in which Jesus is said to have hung on the cross, we will walk the road our Lord walked
from trial to death through prayer and meditations at each of the fourteen stations.

The sacrament of reconciliation will be offered on Good Friday. At the Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday we will receive communion from the reserved sacrament left from Maundy Thursday. We will hear read the Passion of St. John and the solemn collects, a particularly ancient form of Prayers of the People, during which the church remembers before God the world for which his son died.

The Holy Saturday liturgy is on April 3. This is a service of word and prayer.

And then of course, Easter Sunday - Christ has risen - Hallelujah! The end of Lent and traditional day to begin wearing spring clothes.

I am learning a very old song to do in church..not quite on subject but I saw Emmy Lou Harris sing it on YouTube and thought she was just exceptional. I had never ever thought of me performing it but she just inpired me greatly. Here is the song. Let me know how you like it, OK? Oh Chet Atkins plays mandolin on this too. He was a fantastic guitar player. Didn't know he played mandolin too.
